Reading Recovery |

The Reading Recovery Program is an early intervention program for Year 1 students who are having difficulties learning to read and write. Through daily individual lessons, children achieving at low levels are helped to make rapid progress, catching up to their classmates in a short period of time. The focus of Reading Recovery is on comprehending messages in reading and constructing messages in writing. Children read many books and write their own stories as they learn to attend to detail while maintaining a focus on the meaning of texts. Children leave the program when they are able to work successfully with an average group of learners in their classroom. As soon as one child leaves the program another enters. In 2009, 5 children per day participate in Reading Recovery lessons on a one to one basis with Ms Eagle.
